Fireweed gets its name from its ability to colonize areas rapidly after a fire. A tall showy wildflower that grows in every single province and territory in Canada. It thrives in open meadows, along streams, roadsides, and forest edges. Fireweed spreads via rhizomes and likes disturbance, be cautious with planting this in small garden situations. Approx. 90 seeds per packet.

In some places, this species is so abundant that it can carpet entire meadows with brilliant pink flowers. Fireweed spreads via rhizomes and likes disturbance, be cautious with planting this in small garden situations as it can take over. Note, seeds are very small.

Cold, moist stratification required. Winter sow directly outside, or mix seeds with moist substrate (vermiculite, perlite or moss) and place in a plastic bag and refrigerate for 6-8 weeks. Sow seed at 1/8 inch depth. Do not let seedling dry out while it is establishing.
