Locally grown hard-neck garlic bulbs for planting! Sold by the bulb, each bulb has between 4-10 cloves depending on the cultivar. Choose from several different varieties below. 

Argentinian: Hardneck, porcelain type. Argentinian has a strong flavour and produces 4-5 cloves per bulb. Grown in Nova Scotia. 

Continental: Hardneck, porcelain type. Continental is cold-hardy and reliably produces 4 cloves per bulb. Grown in Nova Scotia. 

Croatian: Hardneck, porcelain type. Croatian is intensely flavourful and spicy. Performs well in cold, rocky soils and produces 4-5 cloves per bulb. Grown in Nova Scotia. 

Music: Hardneck, porcelain-type garlic that stores well and features a robust flavour. Bulbs are typically large and often made up of 5 or more cloves. Grown in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

Planting instructions: Garlic thrives in rich soil in full sun. Ensure the area is weed-free, and amend with compost. The best time to plant is mid-fall, once the temperatures have started to drop. Early to mid-October is ideal in Nova Scotia. Break apart the bulb into separate cloves, and plant 1-2" deep and 6" apart. Place bulb pointy end up, root end down. Mulching is recommended for weed prevention and winter insulation.

Harvest instructions: Keep the beds weed-free in spring. Side-dress as leaves begin to appear in early spring. Harvest the scape (flower head) in the late spring - early summer. Harvest the bulbs once the leaves start to brown at the tips, usually 3-4 weeks after the removal of the scape. Tie or braid in bunches and hang to cure in a dark, dry area for 10-30 days.
